Hi, it’s a beautiful, hot day outside, but I’m sitting here getting ready for my Virtual Book tour. If you have ever wondered how authors make people aware of them when they self-publish, here is an example. Without a large publishing machine behind them, each author must take responsibility for getting the word out on their own.
In traditional publishing, publishers arrange for authors to work with various media outlets on book tours. These may include radio, TV, newspapers, and online outlets. They are very time consuming and frequently there are time and travel costs that the author must pay. That’s one of the reasons why Virtual Book Tours have become so popular. Blogs make up a huge portion of the online venues available.
Somehow I was fortunate to became aware of D’vorah Lansky, author of How to Build a Business with Your Book. D’vorah was holding a Virtual Book Tour Bootcamp for a few hundred of her virtual friends and I decided to participate. In a few short weeks, I had learned the basics of blog tours, reached out to a variety of people and lined up places to “visit.” Some of them will be responding in kind by becoming guest bloggers here. Tours can be as long or intense as your schedule permits. Ultimately, mine will cover a 3 month time period.
What follows is my tour – events that have already happened with links to where they are archived, as well as upcoming events as currently planned. The archived aspect is very important since people can come back to that material for an indefinite period of time.

August 23 – Day 4 – It’s My Birthday – the perfect time to celebrate the Virtual Book Tour. To make the day even more special, I have invited friends over for the afternoon, including some folks who have read Rainbows Over Ruins, and worked with me. A few of them have offered to record their thoughts on video to add to the fun. If I get really daring, there may be something like a Twitter Chat! You go, girl!
